Short-Term Rental Documents

On September 11, 2023, the Eagle Harbor Township (EHT) Board adopted a Short Term Rental (STR) Amendment to the Eagle Harbor Zoning Ordinance. This amendment requires that, starting May 1, 2024, anyone operating or advertising an STR in Eagle Harbor Township must have a valid STR Permit.

EHT will begin accepting permit applications only from existing STR owners on November 1, 2023.  Existing owners must have operated their STR before November 1, 2023.  Existing owners will have until May 1, 2024 to file a permit application.  After May 1, 2024, EHT will begin accepting applications from new owners of an STR.

Application forms can be accessed using the link below or in person at the Township office.  Completed applications may be mailed to or dropped off at the Eagle Harbor Township office at 321 Center Street, Eagle Harbor, MI, 49950.  These initial permits will be valid until March 31, 2025.

Beginning in 2025, permit renewal will be open from March 1 to March 31, and permits will be valid from April 1 through March 31. If the holder of any existing permit does not apply for renewal by March 31, the permit will automatically expire on April 1. After a permit expires, any new permitting for the same property shall be subject to all STR permitting regulations in effect at that time.
