As construction proceeds, there will undoubtedly be issues that come up that need attention.  Please bring any issues directly to the Township: to the Supervisor, the Clerk or the Treasurer.  We will act on them as appropriate.  Please also be aware that every precaution will be taken to maintain a secure and safe construction site but there are several things we would like to bring to your attention for a safe and enjoyable summer.

  • Please maintain a safe distance from all construction areas at all times.
  • Please speak with any children and teenagers that will be here during construction to make sure they understand the inherent dangers around a construction site and areas where equipment and supplies are stored.
  • If you see an unsafe situation please report it to the Township immediately.
  • Please do not disrupt the contractors as they work.  If there are issues or questions bring them to the Township.
  • Please understand that for a project of this magnitude in a small town, your quality of life will be impacted, due to temporary road closures, water turn offs and general dirt and dust but, we will endeavourer to minimize the impact.

During the preconstruction meeting we covered the special events that are held in and around town during the summer and fall.  The contractors will work with us to minimize the impact on these events as much as possible.  We are asking for your cooperation, patience and understanding during this major water improvement project.

Blasting Plan for Water Project

Moyle is arranging blasting on North Street, Pine Street, Pine Ridge Road, Lighthouse Court, Lighthouse Road, 7th Street, 3rd Street, 2nd Street, Cliff Street and the east portion of M-26.  They will have an inspection team that will be performing inspections of septic systems and wells and the inside of all structures within 500 feet of the blasting areas.  They will be video recording the inside of structures and documenting the condition because they will be responsible for any damage caused by the blasting.  We do not have specific dates yet but Moyle will be sending a letter to each effected property owner to make arrangements for access.  The owner or their authorized representative will need to be present during the inspection of the inside of buildings.  The commencement of blasting is at least 2-4 weeks out.  We will post information as it becomes available.

Notice for Military and Overseas Civilian Voters

Attention military and overseas civilian voters who are eligible to register and vote in Michigan!

New state and federal laws make it easier for military and overseas civilian voters to register and participate in elections. Under the new laws, military and overseas civilian voters can now receive a ballot by e-mail or fax to speed the voting process! (The voted ballot must be returned by mail for security purposes.)

Military and overseas civilian voters interested in obtaining ballots for the elections that will be held this year must request a ballot through their local city or township clerk. Requests for absentee ballots submitted prior to 2010 are no longer valid and cannot be processed. Under the new law, requests for ballots are good for every election held in the same calendar year in which the request is received. When submitting your request, be sure to indicate whether you would like to receive your ballot by mail, e-mail or fax.

Additional information including contact information for Michigan’s city and township clerks can be obtained through the Michigan Voter Information Center (MVIC) Web site maintained by the Michigan Department of State which is located at: www.Michigan.gov/vote.
